Join host Ann J White as she chats with singer, songwriter, survivor and more - Dorothy LeBlanc - sharing her music to inspire and uplift.

Dorothy says:
"I'm passionate about leaving a positive footprint on the world.  I learned that from the woman who defined positivity, my mom.  You know, it never ceases to amaze me how intricately the music of the 1940's and the lifestyle and attitudes of the time reflect an attitude of togetherness and survival.  In the midst of such a challenging, often painful time, the music would, for the most part, lift you up!  WWii broke out, my dad and so many Americans went off to war, leaving loved ones behind...yet songs like "Accentuate the Positive" reigned supreme!  Music therapy for the country as a whole, at its finest!

I want to write songs of that ilk, and share them with the world.  Songs that make you feel empowered and understood, songs that challenge you and make you want to be the best version of you.  Songs that heal."

Dorothy also does music therapy with Alzheimer's patients. She often performs the songs of the 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s to groups of senior citizens in the community.  She began my career as a children's musician, and still performs at some early learning centers and at festivals in our area of Louisiana.

Tune in live or on demand and meet this inspiring woman.

The Creating Calm Network is proud to shine its light on the amazing, magical and talented Stacey Weingarten.
Stacey has many wonderful projects but today we are going to chat about her production of Rescue Rue.

Inspired by a true story, Rescue Rue is a musical fairytale with puppets that tells one dog’s journey from shelter to adoption, finding her Furever home in NYC.

Rescue Rue features Book & Lyrics by Stacey Weingarten,
Music & Lyrics by Kate Steinberg and Joshua Zecher-Ross.

About Stacey Weingarten: Stacey graduated from Fordham University with a double major in Theatre Directing and Communications at the same time as she made her Off-Broadway debut as “Bubbles” in John Tartaglia’s ImaginOcean.  She is the Executive Producer of Chinese Mother Jewish Daughter LLC.   Her first libretto, Les Enfants de Paris, with music and lyrics by David Levinson and direction by Donna Drake, premiered at NYMF in 2011 (also produced by Chinese Mother LLC).

Stacey is the Lead Writer/Co-Producer/Puppet Designer of Monica’s Mixing Bowl, a cooking-themed webseries for children and families.

In term of puppetry, Stacey is an experienced puppet wrangler (including work on Sesame Street), puppet/prop builder (including work at The Puppet Kitchen), and puppeteer. Of late she can be found working at Avenue Q Off-Broadway where I’m the Puppet Wrangler/Wardrobe Head, and teaching Puppetry at Pace University.
